Amanda Morrow

Roast Master 

Amanda began her coffee roasting career in 2000, under the apprenticeship of her mentor, Mark Smutek, founder of Water Street Coffee Joint https://waterstreetcoffee.com/

She grew to become the head roast master (and manager) for Water Street until she moved to California in 2003. Immediately, she began working for her new favorite coffee shop, The Pannikin, as a barista. Upon her suggestion and with her experience in tow, Shawn and  Carol (then owners of the Pannikin) allowed her the opportunity to start and run the roasting branch of the cafe. She roasted  the coffee for The Pannikin until around a year into her co-ownership of the La Jolla Pannikin Cafe (which she bought in 2007). Amanda’s roasting apprentice was a woman named Helena Statsna who kept her roasting style alive and vibrant. 

Amanda is now fulfilling a lifelong dream of having her own roasting company with her wife, Gloria. The craft of roasting coffee, from seed to cup, is their passion. Three Legs Coffee Roasters is located inside of The Flower Pot Cafe and Bakery, in sunny La Jolla, California.

Gloria, Amanda, and their son, Yohan Felipe, run both businesses together  with the most awesome staff on the planet, in the beautiful community of the La Jolla Village. 

Together, they have taken many trips to Colombian coffee farms due to Gloria’s Colombian roots. They have also been to origin in Peru and Costa Rica, and are excited to continue building relationships with farmers around the globe and their small, organic crops of high altitude coffee.
